WHAT IS NECK LIFT SURGERY?
For many patients, the neck is the first area of the body to show the visible signs aging, such as: vertical bands along the neck, laxity (looseness) of the neck muscle, and fatty jowls (double chin). Fortunately, neck lift surgery can correct and treat these problematic aesthetic issues, and can also address the predicament of excess, loose-hanging neck skin resulting from a loss of neck skin elasticity. The problem of excess neck skin is most often experienced by women and men who have lost a significant amount of weight in a short period of time, whether through the conventional means of diet and exercise, or through bariatric (weight loss) surgery.
Dr. J. Timothy Katzen is a highly experienced, board certified plastic surgeon, who specializes in surgical “lift” procedures for patients who have lost a significant amount of weight and are left with the disheartening aesthetic problem of excess, sagging skin. Dr. Katzen takes pride in keeping abreast of the latest advances in the field of cosmetic facial surgery, and has helped many of his patients lift, tighten and rejuvenate the appearance of their neck region with neck lift procedures at his private practice in Beverly Hills, California.
NECK LIFT OPTIONS
Neck lift surgery is primarily performed to address three key cosmetic neck issues: excess fat, muscle sagging, and loose skin. The specific surgical techniques employed during neck lift surgery are dependent upon which specific issues need to be addressed. For example, liposuction may be utilized to remove surplus fatty tissue; platysmaplasty may be performed to tighten up the neck muscles and correct unflattering band lines; and cervicoplasty may be used to remove excess skin. During your initial consultation, Dr. Katzen will take into consideration your facial anatomy and your specific aesthetic goals, before creating a customized treatment plan that integrates the optimal combination of surgical procedures to safely and effectually bring your neck lift goals to fruition.
NECK LIFT PROCEDURE
Neck lift procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, using IV sedation or general anesthesia. The length of neck lift surgery varies depending on the nature of each patient’s procedural details, and whether or not other surgeries are being performed in conjunction with the neck lift. Following your surgery, you may experience some swelling or bruising around the neck, ears, and jaw, which should lessen in a few days. Neck lift surgery generally leaves minimal scarring, and your surgical results will be visible immediately after your neck lift, and will continue to improve gradually over the next 1-3 months.
At his private practice in Beverly Hills, California, Dr. Katzen has cultivated a warm, welcoming office environment, where you will feel secure and comfortable throughout your neck lift surgery experience.
