BENEFITS OF DERMAL FILLERS
For busy individuals seeking to rejuvenate their facial appearance without having to interrupt their hectic schedules with a surgical procedure and post-operative recovery period, injectable dermal fillers are an excellent treatment option. Injectable dermal fillers offer many of the same benefits as a facelift surgery, but at a lower cost, and without the need for any post-treatment downtime.
Many of the most frequently utilized dermal fillers are hyaluronic-acid based. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is an element that is found naturally in our skin, and it serves to hydrate and preserve the skin’s youthfully voluminous appearance by drawing water into the skin. As we age, our HA levels decrease, causing our facial skin to wrinkle and lose volume. Hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers have become increasingly popular as a tool to smooth and correct facial wrinkles, restore volume to the facial contours, minimize the appearance of scars, and augment thin lips.
In order to achieve optimal results from your dermal filler treatment, it is important to have the procedure performed by a skillful, board certified plastic surgeon such as Dr. J. Timothy Katzen. Dr. Katzen takes pride in keeping abreast of the latest advances in the field of non-surgical facial treatments, and has helped many patients revitalize their facial appearance with injectable dermal filler treatments at his private practice in Beverly Hills, California.
DERMAL FILLER OPTIONS
Dr. Katzen is pleased to offer a number of effective dermal filler options, including, but not limited to:
A hyaluronic-acid based injectable used to minimize the appearance of facial wrinkles and folds, and to restore lost volume to the skin. JUVÉDERM® is an excellent option for patients seeking to augment their lips, is appropriate for patients with thin or sensitive skin, and is safe to use for patients of all skin types and ethnic origins. JUVÉDERMresults can last six months to a year (injections for the lips last approximately 3-5 months).
Hyaluronic-acid based dermal filler utilized to add volume to the lips and face, and to correct the appearance of moderate to severe facial lines and folds. Restylane® is formulated with biocompatible, non-animal- based hyaluronic acid, making it a safe choice for patients with sensitivities or allergies. The average Restylane® treatment can last from 6-12 months, depending upon treatment area and the patient’s skin type, lifestyle and age.
Radiesse and Sculptra:
Non-hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers used to add volume to the hands and face, generally in the cheek and temple regions, where volume loss is often the most apparent. Sculptra and Radiesse work by initiating collagen production in the body; however, Radiesse offers more immediate results, because it initially augments facial volume on its own, in addition to stimulating the body to produce collagen. Both fillers can be used for: cheek contouring, correcting laugh lines, hand rejuvenation, chin contouring, lip augmentation, and nose sculpting. Sculptra and Radiesse produce long-lasing results—Sculptra lasts up to two years (following the original injection series), and Radiesse lasts up to one year.
