Abdominal definition after a tummy tuck: VASER Hi-Def 6 pack liposculpting
The abdominoplasty or tummy tuck is an excellent procedure to remove excess of abdominal skin and fat. However, after an abdominoplasty or tummy tuck, the abdomen is left flat and devoid of shape. Many patients are left without desired abdominal wall definition or contour. This abdominal wall flatness often robs patients of the countless hours spent in the gym trying to define the abdominal rectus or six pack muscles.
Now, with some recent liposuction breakthroughs, fat selective liposuction can be safely used to melt abdominal wall fat, chisel the abdomen, and expose the underlying abdominal wall musculature, including the six pack, serratus, and pectoralis major muscles.
The VASER Hi-Def 6 pack abdominal wall definition surgery takes approximately one to two hours to perform. The VASER lipo select liposuction or abdominal wall etching can be done under local, IV sedation, or general anesthesia.
Two or three pencil eraser size incisions are made. One tiny incision is placed in the belly button. The other two incisions are placed beneath the underwear line. Through these very small incisions, tumescent solution is placed. Tumescent solution is a mixture of normal saline, lidocaine, and epinephrine. The tumescent solution minimizes intraoperative bleeding and postoperative pain. Tumescent solution also maximizes the effect of the VASER liposuction. After the tumescent solution has been inserted and allowed to take effect, the VASER is used to selectively remove fat. Using the VASER, Dr. Katzen is able to remove residual, abdominal fat and expose underlying abdominal wall muscles. Abdominal wall muscles can be effectively displayed using the VASER, include the rectus abdominis, serratus, and pectoralis major muscles.
Once the desired results are achieved, the VASER liposuction cannula is removed. Traditional liposuction is used at the end of the VASER liposuction procedure to remove further fat and tumescent fluid.
Typically, after VASER liposuction, to allow for drainage, the skin incisions are left open. At the end of the procedure, absorbent pads and a compression garment are placed.
After your VASER Hi-Def 6 pack liposuction procedure, you will spend at least one hour in the recovery room. Once you are deemed stable, you will be discharged home. Your spouse or significant other will need to drive you home.
While at home it is important to stay well hydrated and eat. Twenty-four hours after your surgery, you are encouraged to walk around the house three or four times a day.
Dr. Katzen will see you several days after your surgery. At that time, your garment will be changed and your VASER liposuction incisions examined. Usually, two to three days after your procedure, you can shower. The tiny liposuction incisions usually close within seven to ten days.
Most patients are able to return to work five to seven days after the procedure. At three to four weeks, most patients are able to return to a light workout. At six to eight weeks, most patients are able to return to their normal workout routine. For maximum benefit, you are encouraged to wear your garment for six weeks.
