(BUTTOCKS LIFT/POSTERIOR BODY LIFT)
Butt lift surgery is performed to tighten, lift, and sculpt the contours of the buttocks. During a butt lift, excess skin and fat are removed from the gluteal region, thereby enhancing the overall appearance of the buttocks. Butt lifts are sometimes performed with buttock augmentation. Dr.Katzen will thoroughly examine you and determine if you are a good candidate for buttock augmentation and buttock lifting. Buttock augmentation options include fat transfer and buttock implants.
Butt lifts are suitable procedures for most patients desiring to enhance the aesthetic look of the gluteal region. The buttock lift is an excellent procedure to remove excess, hanging skin from the center of the butt and from the bottom of the butt. Often with the buttock lift, one can finally see and enjoy the true efforts of their diet and exercise.
Buttock lifts require a high level of accuracy and surgical proficiency, and should only be performed by a board certified plastic surgeon such as Dr. J. Timothy Katzen. Dr. Katzen is a widely respected expert in the field of cosmetic body surgery, and has helped many patients sculpt and shape their gluteal regions with butt lift surgery at his private practice in Beverly Hills, California. Dr. Katzen specializes in surgical body lift procedures, and has a vast scope of knowledge and expertise performing butt lift surgeries.
BUTT LIFT PROCEDURE AND RECOVERY
Butt lifts are outpatient procedures generally lasting 2-4 hours and performed under general anesthesia. During your butt lift surgery, Dr.Katzen will make an incision in the buttock region and remove excess buttock skin and fat. If necessary, he may also perform liposuction at this time. Following your surgery, you may experience pain, numbness, and bruising, all of which will subside within a few months, depending on your body’s capacity to heal.
The primary difficulty patients experience during their recovery from butt lift surgery is the inability to sit during the first week following surgery. Patience is imperative during this time in order to ensure proper healing of the incision sites, and you will be able to gradually resume your normal activities, including sitting down, over the next 4-6 weeks. Butt lift results can be very long-lasting, unless the patient gains or loses a significant amount of weight, in which case, additional procedures may be necessary.
TYPES OF BUTTOCKS
There are four types of buttocks. Type 1 buttocks have excess buttock fat only. Type 2 buttocks have redundant, loose, hanging buttock skin. Type 2 buttocks present with wrinkles or indentations in the buttock. Type 2 buttocks possess some buttock fat. Type 3 buttocks have excess buttock skin and excess buttock fat. Type 4 buttocks have excess buttock skin and minimal, if any, buttock fat.
For patients with Type 1 buttocks, targeted buttock liposuction can selectively remove excess buttock fat. After buttock liposuction surgery, the contractile forces of the buttock skin will shrink wrap over the new buttock. For Type 1 buttocks, the removal of buttock fat with liposuction and subsequent skin contracture, will lead to a more shapely buttock.
For patients with Type 2 buttocks, excess buttock skin needs to be removed. Buttock skin removal is achieved by carefully placing incision lines and directly excising buttock skin. Most of the buttock fat is left in place and just excess buttock skin is removed. Since the majority of the buttock fat is preserved, buttock projection is preserved. By removing excess buttock skin and re-draping the buttock skin, the buttock wrinkles are pulled tightly, flattened, and are virtually eliminated.
For patients with Type 3 buttocks, excess buttock skin and fat need to be removed. Surgery for Type 3 buttocks, involves the removal of excess buttock skin and fat. The removal of excess buttock skin is done with carefully placed incisions. Buttock fat excision is accomplished with direct buttock fat excision and/or buttock liposuction.
For Type 4 buttocks, excess buttock skin needs to be removed and the foundation of the buttock needs to be created. Surgery for Type 4 buttocks requires the surgical removal of excess, loose buttock skin. This is accomplished by carefully placing an incision on the buttocks and removing excess buttock skin directly. During the buttock procedure for Type 4 buttocks, liposuction is also performed on other body parts. The fat is collected, processed, and transferred to the buttock to create the foundation of the buttock. This buttock fat transfer achieves buttock augmentation and thus, buttock projection and profile. Typically, liposuction and fat transfer to the buttock is performed during the buttock lift procedure. Another alternative to fat grafting or transfer is the insertion of a buttock implant. During the removal of excess buttock skin, a silicone buttock implant can be placed. This also achieves buttock projection. If further buttock volume is desired for additional buttock projection, liposuction and buttock fat transfer can be done at a later date.
