What is a Chin Implant?
One of the primary goals of facial plastic surgery is to bring a sense of balance to a patient’s facial features. When a person’s features are proportional and symmetrical with each other, that person looks healthier and more attractive. A chin implant is a form of chin augmentation used to add extra volume and definition to a receding chin. This cosmetic procedure is a great way for both men and women to add an element of striking definition to their appearance and balance their chins with their eyes, nose, mouth, and cheeks.
What is the Procedure Like?
This surgical procedure is undergone in the comfort of our Beverly Hills and Las Vegas offices. All chin implants are performed by Dr. J. Timothy Katzen, our practice’s lead surgeon.
Before surgery begins, anesthesia is administered to the patient. Once this sedative has started to take effect, Dr. Katzen begins surgery. Depending on the patient’s specific cosmetic goals for the surgery, Dr. Katzen will select a surgical technique that allows him to carefully and deliberately improve the appearance of the chin while ensuring patients don’t experience an extended period of downtime.
This procedure typically takes between 30-60 minutes to perform. Depending on the nature and extent of the chin implant, recovery can take anywhere from one to four weeks. Before undergoing this procedure, Dr. Katzen will discuss the recovery measures patients will have to take to ensure that their period of healing that is as quick and as comfortable as possible.
Am I a Candidate?
Anyone interested in adding definition to their chin is a potential candidate for a chin implant. However, potential candidates must have a jaw, teeth, and immune system that are functioning well. Some patients may not need to undergo a surgical chin implant procedure to improve their appearance; a slightly less invasive procedure may be adequate.
Are you interested in a chin implant, but would like to consult with a professional to see if this procedure is right for you? Contact Timothy Katzen, M.D. today to schedule a consultation appointment. We look forward to hearing from you!
