While cosmetic procedures that treat imperfections of the body have been around for decades, vaginal rejuvenation has only recently become a staple of many aesthetic practices. And it’s about time too: childbirth, hormonal changes, and the simple passing of time can alter the vagina in ways that decrease women’s overall quality of life. We care about women’s health and well-being — that’s why we offer our patients laser vaginal rejuvenation.
Located in Las Vegas NV and Beverly Hills CA, Timothy Katzen M.D. is committed to providing patients with quality, comprehensive aesthetic care. Contact us today to schedule a consultation.
What is Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation?
Laser vaginal rejuvenation is a minimally invasive treatment that can help reverse some of the negative changes that the vagina goes through over time. It does this by harnessing the power of laser energy to stimulate the production of rejuvenating compounds within the vagina, encouraging the growth of newer, stronger tissue.
How Does it work?
Laser vaginal rejuvenation works by using a concentrated, CO₂ laser to stimulate vaginal rejuvenation. The energy emitted by the laser penetrates deep into the vaginal wall. Once this energy is absorbed by deep skin cells, it triggers the creation of collagen, elastin, and other healing growth factors. These repair, strengthen, and shrink the walls of the vagina.
What Problems can it Treat?
Laser vaginal rejuvenation can treat three main problems: vaginal laxity, dryness, infection, and stress urinary incontinence (SUI).
- Vaginal Laxity. With age, the walls of the vagina lose their firmness and tightness, causing diminished sensitivity. CO₂ laser treatment can restore the overall tone of the vagina by decreasing its diameter.
- Vaginal Dryness. Laser vaginal rejuvenation can increase vaginal lubrication lost over time by repairing the vagina with new, healthy tissue. This tissue is better equipped to produce sustained, satisfying vaginal lubrication.
- Chronic Vaginal Infection. The vagina’s immune response worsens over time. In addition to stimulating the creation of collagen and elastin, laser vaginal rejuvenation triggers an immune response to flood the area. This immune system support is sustained over time, helping the body fight future vaginal infections.
- Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI). SUI is the involuntary leaking of urine in response to abdominal pressure. This abdominal pressure worsens over time as urethral support is lost. A CO₂ laser treatment stimulates collagen renewal in this area, increasing support and strength.
